Welcome to Be Great TODAY. I am Jonathan Bloom or Frazley Sparkspan in World of Warcraft. My Birthday is on Tuesday, March 27th. I can’t believe that I will be 28 this year. I know, that probably doesn’t sound too old to anyone. It just seems weird to me. I have been to Mount Rushmore a few times. When we were there, we learned that Gutzon Borglum started sculpting the monument in his 60s, if I have my math correct. Many people say they are too old to do something, it’s too late to start a new project. I believe no one is ever too young or too old to start a project. There are exceptions, but that is a case-by-case basis. It’s usually not too late to start something. Look at my podcasting, I thought I was too late to start working on my podcasts. Then the end of June last year, I decided to finally just start it. I sometimes think I am too old to be in my college program, as some of my friends have their degrees already. Then I find out one of the students in my class is a mom who is working on her degree along with her daughter. One thing that was brought up in my prior courses is the idea that kids and teenagers are sometimes encouraged to wait until they are older to start thinking about making an impact. When I was younger, I was given the ability to teach myself computers. I tried many things. Once I killed a computer, I won’t go into details on that. It was an accident though. I started learning to communicate through blogging. Getting my ideas out to a wider audience. When I was a teen, I was encouraged to try video production. I started working on that, making videos with friends. I was working on my Media creation skills. I wasn’t being forced to give up my childhood, but I was given an opportunity to start learning a skill. That skill started with a webcam video of my cat Tab. Which was actually aired on The Screen Savers on TV! This skill of media creation and communication has been one I’ve been growing throughout the years. One regret I have is not taking video production more seriously. Not getting consistent with it. These podcasts have been the most consistent I’ve been with any of my online media projects. I some days wish I could’ve become YouTube famous. I had a blogger I look up to, Paul Stamatiou, once link to my show, The Mr Fluffles Show, back in the pre-YouTube days. Back when it was still either downloading a QuickTime/Windows Media file or uploading it to Google Video or turning it into a Flash video. I can’t look back on what I could’ve done, but it made Starting my podcasts at Weekly Awesome much harder to do. It kind of stalled me from starting, since I felt like I was starting too late. You are never too old or too young. Start or continue something today. What projects are you wanting to start or work on? What fears do you have regarding the project?
